What inspired you to pursue a career in medicine, and what drew you to your specialty?
I was inspired to pursue medicine by my passion for serving children and families. Pediatrics drew me in because it allows me to not only care for children’s immediate health needs but also guide families through every stage of their child’s growth and development. I believe strongly in evidence-based medicine, preventive care, and parental education. As a mother to an only child who is also pursuing a career in medicine, I take pride in being both a physician and an advocate for children of all ages.
Why did you decide to join the VNACJ Community Health Center?
I began my career as a private pediatrician, where I spent over 24 years building deep, long-term relationships with patients and families while strengthening my skills in comprehensive, community-based care. My experience as a practice owner gave me a strong foundation in both clinical medicine and organizational management. Over time, I transitioned into leadership roles, combining my passion for patient care with program development and team building. I chose to join VNACJ Community Health Center because of its mission-driven approach to community health and the team’s deep commitment to serving families with compassion and excellence.
As our new Medical Director, what are your priorities or goals for patient care at VNA Health Center?
As the new Medical Director, my priority is to strengthen culturally competent, patient-centered care, expand access for underserved populations, and promote preventive health strategies that help children and families thrive.
What do you enjoy most about working with patients and the community?
Throughout my career, I have cherished the relationships I’ve built with patients and their families. I find joy in supporting parents through their challenges, celebrating milestones, and fostering trust that lasts for years. For me, the greatest reward in pediatrics is watching children grow into healthy, confident young adults.
Can you share a piece of advice or health tip that you often give to your patients?
My advice to families is simple yet powerful: “As pediatricians, we are your partners in navigating your child’s health and development. Let’s be their advocates together.”
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? (hobbies, interests, or fun facts)
When I’m not working, I enjoy traveling and exploring small towns both here and abroad, discovering local traditions and cuisines. I also love cooking and listening to music.
