Asbury Park, New Jersey (February 17, 2021) – FirstEnergy Foundation recently granted VNA of Central Jersey Community Health Center (CHC) with $2,500 in support of CHC’s LGBTQ Center for Health and Wellness, located in Asbury Park.

“We are grateful to FirstEnergy Foundation for recognizing the importance of supporting LGBTQ healthcare,” said Christopher Rinn, CEO, VNA of Central Jersey Community Health Centers. “Disparities in healthcare still exist within the LGBTQ community and our goal is to improve access to safe, culturally sensitive and high quality care for those who might otherwise delay or ignore their healthcare needs.”

Opened in 2018, the LGBTQ Center for Health and Wellness is the first-of-its-kind in Asbury Park to provide primary care services specifically designed to serve the LGBTQ community. Comprehensive care and wellness programs include primary care, behavioral health, transgender services, STD testing, rapid HIV and syphilis testing as well as PrEP counseling and primary HIV care, all provided in a safe, culturally competent environment. The LGBTQ Center for Health and Wellness is centrally located in Asbury Park, in the same building as the VNACJ Community Health Center, and is open Tuesday and Thursday evenings. LGBTQ health and wellness services are also available during VNACJ Community Health Center’s operating hours.
