August 3, 2017 – (Asbury Park) Every August, New Jersey Primary Care Association (NJPCA) in conjunction with National Health Center Week, dedicates the month to celebrate our nation’s community health centers. VNACJ Community Health Centers are taking a prominent role in this recognition by hosting various events to celebrate what it means to be a health center. We also want to utilize this week to disseminate information about the services of the VNACJ Community Health Centers (CHC).

The theme of this year’s National Health Center Week is “Celebrating America’s Health Centers: The Key to Healthier Communities,” underscoring the major focus of this event which is utilizing cost-effective, innovative, and high-quality strategies to better our community. The event will run from August 13-19, with each individual day focused on a different realm of community health.

“National Health Center Week is a time to celebrate this special resource our communities have to ensure that everyone can access health care,” said CHC Executive Director Kristine McCoy, MD, MPH.  “Health centers serve 1 in 15 Americans and just as importantly provide many jobs in their communities.  VNACJ CHC is eager to ensure that Monmouth County residents are aware of the many types of care including primary, dental, and prenatal care available at our health centers to all patients whether or not they have insurance.  We also are a resource for helping people obtain insurance and for our patients to get connected to other community services.”

Throughout the week, CHC will be traveling to different events in our region as well as organizing events in our own health centers. Below is a schedule of the CHC-affiliated events in our area
